Dave Beshara's Redfish Adventure
October 2-6, 2008

Dave Beshara along with Florida fishing pals, Stu Apte and Fred Anderson, headed to the bayous south of New Orleans to take in some early fall Redfish angling. Our base of operation was Woodland Plantation (c 1834) where we met up with our guides Capt. Bryan Carter and Capt. Rich Waldner (see their info below). From there, the gang headed farther south to Port Sulfur on the coast where we met up with our trip host Bert Jones (former NFL QB). The group split up, Fred and I fished with Rich and Bert and Stu went out with Bryan. Friday was a beautiful day, with full sunlight and warm temps, a perfect day on the water. By days end, Fred and I landed 15-20 reds in the 6 to 12 pound class. In addition to the reds, Dave landed a 5 pound sheepshead and two large black drum of 20 and 29.8 pounds. Stu and Bert enjoyed similar success with 20+ reds. On Saturday the weather was great as well and the fishing turned out even better than Friday with Stu and Bert landing better than 20 reds in just 3 hours. Aside from the fantastic fishing, the other most memorable event of the trip was the fine Cajun food cooked up by Bert……a feast every night! So if you're up for some great redfish angling, I highly recommend getting yourself down to this area in the fall. Hook up with one or both of these great guides and enjoy some of the finest sight fishing for reds to be had anywhere.
