Cape Ann Report

Not much change from last week. The blues and bass are showing clear signs that the fall run is taking shape. Large schools of blues and bass are gathering around the Pebble beach area. On Monday I found several large groups of blues working to the south of Milk Island, while large groups of stripers were inside just off Pebble and Cape Hedge beach. As the week went by, the blues moved off shore a bit and the stripers stayed inside, and at times, holed up and at other times, back on top slurping on small krill like stuff. There is definitely a large quantity of tiny peanut bunker at the beaches, offshore and along the back shore stretch. The bait is “balled up” and spread out in many groups.

From Porter B.; I spent some time fishing Lobster Cove Tuesday; I landed 6 keepers in under 2 hours of fishing up to 27 pounds, chumming and hand feeding baits. I returned to the same location Saturday and landed only 3 keepers in about the same amount of time. I fished the outgoing tide on the front side of Cranes Beach on Sunday morning, 4-9 am, landed about 18 fish up to 26 inches about 1 mile down the beach (south) and on the walk back, I got into a pretty good surface feed in the "swimming area" and took another 6-8 fish of the same size. Pretty dark 45 min lonely walk at 4 in the morning down the beach, but well worth it, lots of bass and a nice sunrise!

Good action for Gerry C.

Andrew and Blaise with their first stripers!

Merrimack River Report
Capt Al: The rivers mouth continues to fish well with mixed schools of bass and blues. Large schools of bluefish can be found a mile or so off High Sandy in the deeper water….just look for the head boats.
