| The fishing here continues to be very good with some blitzes going off up and down the beach just about every day with stripers and blues going at it together! The live mack anglers are still getting quality stripers at the mouth, while the plug tossers are having their way with large bluefish out a 1/2 mile from the jetties. The bluefish are on the big side at 10 pounds or more. We found pods of bluefish from the river mouth all the way south to Halibut Point. It is clear that we have entered the fall phase of the season. Look for the day and nighttime fishing to improve going forward. And it would be worth it to look inside on the flat, because the bait (sandeels) is going up with the rising tide.

Cape Ann Report
The stripers are beginning to show better numbers now with what is the beginning of the fall migration. We got out several times this week and enjoyed good success each outing. I am not seeing tons of bait, but there are pods of immature bluebacks and some silversides showing up. The bluefish are chasing these bait pods north and south, while the stripers are managing to get in on some action as well. Over the past week solid numbers of 24-28 inch stripers have moved back into the Cape Ann waters. I have found this year class just about everywhere in the area. We had good success taking them with flies, topwaters and tube n' worm rigs.Best times to be out there is first light (and before sunrise for the bigger girls). Steve P and several other shore anglers have taken several big stripers over this past week. They have been out at several locations tossing topwater baits. This early fall pattern is taking shape and hopefully will get even better into September.
