Merrimack River Report
This area has slowed down quite a bit in spite of the abundant sandeels. Both Capt Al and Joe W. have reported slow fishing outside and inside the river. The bluefish however, can be had surf wise and boat alike. The best boat action appears to be happening well outside the mouth to the south. Shore anglers are getting into a few short lived blitzes from around 40th street and down to High Sandy. Everybody is expecting the big girls to show up anytime going forward to the full moon. “You don’t Know if You don’t Go”.

Cape Ann Report
The good fishing continued this week with good numbers of big blues and big stripers almost everyday. The striper bite is starting and ending just before and after sun up. The shore guys who know where and how to properly present top water stick baits are getting their fair share of quality fish. The live liners and tube n’ worm guys are also hammering big stripers away from the shore line and along the reefs. The bird and bait action is not really happening anywhere that I’ve observed although there are some small herring and spike macks in Gloucester Harbor. The w/e weather is not looking good after Saturday with a cold front approaching. This may have an adverse effect on the current good fishing. Most of the stripers we landed this week were a thinner than the fish that moved through last week which indicates the lack of substantial bait in our area, hence the current fish in our area will most likely move through quickly in search of bait. Let’s hope for bait to move in soon.
