"An Amazing 3 Nights of Striper Fishing"
By: Jim Hajjar

The family and I decided to head down to our boat for some dinner and then for a short ride and of course, maybe we'd do a some fishing.

The weather in Newburyport; was crappy, cloudy, foggy, cool, damp and the tide was coming in. I checked the eel pot and there were ~15 big ones in the trap we dumped 6-7 into the bucket and headed out for a short ride. For the next 2 hrs we had GIANT fish on just about every cast. The tally was 7 fish on, of which we only boated 3 and lost 4!

Striper 1 - 38" 23 lbs (Elizabeth's fish)
Striper 2 - 39" 25lbs
Striper 3 - 40" 28lbs

One of them broke off as it swam under the boat; the line right parted at the leader connection! It was by far the largest one; had to top 30lbs. We released all of them - fully revived in the fast moving cool water. I waited for them to chomp on my hand a bit and then with a big tail splash they were gone! Best part was the look on the kid’s faces as they had never seen any fish this large before. Even Elizabeth, my 14 yr old daughter, was calling her friends on her cell phone! Michael came home and wrote a note (with photos he printed out) to his teacher from this past year!

On night two John caught the 32lb fish in same spot with eels. The crazy thing was his fish had a number 6/0 Gamakatsu circle hook with my 20 lb test mono tied to it stuck in its mouth! No rust....it had to be my hook from the night before! Uncle Al also caught the 38lb fish that night.

On night three, we caught three more over the 36 inches ; Richie caught his big one that night.

In three nights we landed 10 large stripers totaling over 250lbs, all caught within a 50 ft circle of each other.

A truly "Amazing 3 Three Nights of Striper Fishing".
